February is the month of love – a time for Valentine’s Day and emphasizing the importance of love in our lives. 

But it is not only Valentine’s Day on the 14^th of February, it is also the start of “Random Acts of Kindness Week”.  It’s a week dedicated to kindness and taking that extra, conscious step to brighten somebody’s day.

At Uzwela we believe in sharing the love from within us with the people around us. We have been hard at work preparing for Valentine’s Day and the week ahead.  Over 300 heart-shaped cookies baked and individually decorated, just over 100 brownies, homemade truffles, marshmallow treats and cake pops prepared.

In December 2019, our ambassador and volunteer – Cayla van Eeden (Miss Jnr Teen South Africa 2020) – visited the Salvation Army in Benoni to donate toiletry packs to the residents.  We thought it is the perfect time for a follow-up visit to show and share some love! 

38 Residents each received a Valentine’s Day gift/treat.  Heart shaped gift boxes filled with treats for the ladies and sweet treat trays for the gents.
