In October 2021, Uzwela Foundation took to the streets of Kempton Park to hand out 150 meals to the homeless.

We focused on Kempton Park Central, an area in the inner city of Kempton Park. The area increasingly faces the challenges of poverty and hunger – there are hundreds of homeless people living and working on the streets. The meals we prepared consisted of a hotdog, an apple, an orange and 1 litre of iced tea.

Handing out the meals was a very humbling experience for us, and we wished we had more to give. Almost everyone who received a meal commented on how happy they were to get fresh fruit, and many asked that if we return, to please include bananas. We vowed to go back again soon with more food parcels and more fruit per parcel for the people of Kempton Park Central.
